Improve Your SeeStar Solar " Images with Baader Solar Film!

Writer's picture: Stephen StrumStephen Strum

If you want to get just a little bit more performance out of your SeeStar telescope when imaging the sun, try upgrading the included solar filter with Baader solar filter film. It is a fairly inexpensive upgrade and will give you a natural white sun and slightly more detail in the images.

If you convert the orange colored solar image when using the stock SeeStar solar filter to black and white and adust the exposure to roughly match that when using the Baader filter film, the differences are not dramatic.

But, when using the Baader film you get a slightly more detailed solar image. The main downside is that the filter film is more delicate and so you do have to be extra careful so as not to tear the film. But, one small sheet of filter material will allow you to make four 50mm filters, so if you do tear one, you can replace it with the extra material.
